Frequently Asked Questions

What is UWF?

Windows Unified Write Filter is Microsoft's built-in reboot-to-restore technology, included in Windows Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise.

What Windows editions are supported?

Windows 10/11 Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise. Windows Pro is not supported (UWF is not available on Pro).

How is this different from Deep Freeze?

FreezeGuard uses Microsoft's own UWF technology instead of a third-party kernel driver. This means no BSOD risk from driver conflicts, automatic compatibility with Windows updates, and lower cost.

What happens to user data on reboot?

All changes to protected volumes are discarded. Use file exclusions to keep specific folders persistent, or save to unprotected drives.

Can I schedule Windows updates?

Yes. Set maintenance windows to automatically thaw, run updates, and refreeze. The agent handles the entire cycle.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, every plan includes a 14-day free trial with full access. No credit card required.
